We are a Stephen Ministry church

IMPORTANT STEPHEN MINISTRY NEWS

By the Grace of God we will begin a new Stephen Minister Training Class this fall! The first class is planned to begin in late August. The Stephen Ministry at FGS will partner with the Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) K-9 Comfort Dog program being coordinated by Rick Pollock.

It is recommended by the LCC K-9 Comfort program that the handler and dog be accompanied by a trained care giver. Understandably, the focus is fully upon the dog when talking about the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog program, but it is important not to lose sight of the care giving which the comfort dog facilitates. We are fortunate at FGS that we already have FGS members specifically trained as care givers to draw upon for this volunteer task.

If you have been inactive as a Stephen Minister and feel that God is calling you to continue to use your Stephen Ministry skills as a care giver contact Stephen Leader David Clark to discuss which of the upcoming Training Classes you might want to attend to refresh your core caring skills.

If you are not a trained Stephen Minister, talk to God and listen to God while asking Him if Stephen Ministry training is in His plan for you at this time. Members of FGS who believe that God is calling them to train for this caring ministry should contact Stephen Leader David Clark or Pastor Joeckel and provide your contact information.
